Mustangs Lead NM State Fair Parade for 3rd Year!!....Our Mustang Battalion once again led the State Fair Parade as the Honor Guard.  This year's parade was a blast, and our cadets looked great and performed magnificently.  All told, we had 101 cadets on deck for the parade, which was led by our banner holders and our drill teams.  Our 50 state flag team was present with the flags from all 50 states of the union represented.  For the first time, our unit had one of its J24 sailboats in the parade, but due to traffic and fairground constraints, it was further back in the parade (#29) than we would have liked.  In all, the parade was a great opportunity for our unit and our cadets to strut their stuff.

Mustangs Rise to the Occasion at the 2007 Valley High School

 Early Bird Drill Meet

Our teams go for gold....On September 22nd, our drill teams, color guards, physical fitness teams and rifle squad competed at the annual Valley High School "Early Bird" Drill Meet.  The Early Bird is the first statewide drill meet of the school year, and our Mustangs were looking for the win at this year's event.  In all, our teams did very well, despite not placing in any single event.  Our Armed Drill team placed 4th in Armed Regulation Drill, and our armed drill commander, C/ENS Shane Boyce placed 5th in the armed commander's competition. Our Unarmed Drill Team placed 8th overall in regulation drill.  Led by C/LTJG Ashley Gonzales, our ladies stuck the regulation routine, and looked great!!   Our Male Color Guard, led by C/LT Ricki Zellner  placed 4th also, and was the highest finish by the guys in several years.    Our physical fitness teams, led by C/ENS Michael Saiz, finished in the upper half of competitors, also signaling a significant improvement in their performance.  Overall, the meet was a terrific success for us!!  BRAVO ZULU!!
